Myobrace is a set of appliances that your child wears for one to two hours during the day and then while they sleep at night. In addition to correcting bad oral habits, the system also places a light force on your child’s teeth and jaw so that they can align properly as they grow. In addition to the oral appliance, the Myobrace system includes educational activities for your child and exercises for them to correct their oral habits and help them understand how to straighten their teeth naturally. There are four phases to the Myobrace system:

Correcting habits: incorrect oral habits are addressed so that they can reap the maximum benefits from the system
Arch development: an appliance may be used if your child’s jaw is underdeveloped and needs to be widened to allow space for the adult teeth to come in correctly
Dental alignment: another type of appliance is used to correctly align the permanent teeth as they are coming in
Retention: in this phase, the good oral habits your child has learned are maintained so that their teeth and jaw stay in the correct position without the need for permanent retainers
